What is health?

This question used to be a lot easier to answer than it is nowadays.  Previously health was defined simply as the absence of disease or sickness.  In other words, if you are not currently sick, you are healthy.

In health classes today, health takes on a more mystical definition.  Health is now a "state of physical, mental, and emotional well-being."  If you are like me, that seems vague and flowery, and in some ways it is; however, it does offer a more inclusive explanation of what health really is.  Health is not only an analysis of the body.  A person could be perfectly free of any kind of disease or cold, but they could be suffering from depression.  Their body is perfectly healthy, but their mind is not.  The modern definition of health would correctly identify that person as having a health problem.  A mental health or emotional health problem.
