Write the equation in slope Slope -2/3; through (4,2)

Hello!

An equation of a straight line in a slope-intercept form is y=mx+b, where m is a slope.

It is given that the line goes through the point (4, 2), i.e. y=2, x=4. Therefore

2=4m+b.

m is also known, and the goal is to find b:

2=4(-2/3)+b, or b=2+4(2/3)=2+8/3=4 and 2/3.

So the answer is: the equation y=(-2/3)x + 4 and 2/3.
