Actually, learning style and motivation are closely linked in any discipline. In language learning, for example, whether the student learns from a grammatical or from a vocabulary standpoint will depend on why the student is learning a language. If the motivation is to read in that language, the syntax, declension, conjugation, etc. is vitally important, but if the motivation is to travel in another country, it might be enough to build a vocabulary of useful words with a mere touch of grammar – Where is the train station? Can you recommend a good restaurant? What does the word ---- mean? Etc. For your thesis statement, then, postulate two (or more) learning styles and parallel them to two ( or more) motives. If a person has a learning style of intense concentration but short attention span, his motivation should be to pick up a lot of a language’s vocabulary. But if a person’s learning style is to examine the structure and interactions of things, then he/she should have as a motivation the translation and interpretation of pieces of literature in the language. Make your thesis statement articulate the important relationship between the two elements – learning styles and motivation – then illustrate some combinations, in several disciplines.
